California-Bismarck was the Minister President of Prussia from 1852- 1890. During those years, Bismarck provoked few wars that united the German-speaking countries. Bismarck defeated Denmark in the 1860s; Denmark was force to give up Schleswig to Prussia and Austria receives Holstien in the Gastein Convention of August 20, 1865. "Bismarck invaded Holstien, after Austria believe that Schleswig-Holstein issue should be resolve by the Imperial Diet",(thelatinlibrary). He used this as a excuse to occupy Holstien, claiming that Austria has broken the term of the Gastein Convention, thus causing the Austro-Prussian War. Prussia defeated Austria during the Battle of Koniggratz. Prussia gained Schleswig, Holstein, Frankfurt, Hanover, Hesse-Kassel and Nassau and Austria promise not to intervene into German affair, during the Peace of Prague on 1866 (treaty). Austria now served as a vessel to the German Empire. After the defeat of Austria, French tension begins to grew, as they fear that a powerful Germany will change the balance of power in Europe. The defeat in the battle of Königgrätz was seen as a defeat for the French. Bismarck tries making France as the aggressor to gain support from the German to side with the Prussian. German Prince Leopold of Hohenzollern-sigmaringen was offered the Spanish throne in 1868, but France refuses to let any member in the House of Hohenzollern to become king of Spain to prevent Germans from gaining more power. Bismarck ignites the war by publishing the Ems Dispatch, which cause France to declare war on Prussia. Prussia gains the support of the Germans and defeats France. Bismarck was able to unify the north and south German states to become a whole empire. King William of Prussia was proclaimed German Emperor. "Bismarck became Prince in 1871 and was appointed as Imperial Chancellor of the German Empire; he kept his Prussian offices Minister-President and Foreign Minister.",(Wikipedia)

California- Otto Von Bismarck was a very smart man. Although he believed in using blood and iron, military power, to accomplish his goals; he also used his knowledge of country's. He won many wars by using what he knew of them. Bismarck was able to defeat Denmark militaristically, he gave Duke Frederick VIII (ruler of Schleswig-Holstein) tasks that could not have been completed just to remove him from office. To defeat Austria Bismarck made a secret alliance with Italy which wanted part of what Austria was controlling. He used Italy's help to defeat Austria. France wanted to stop Germany but Bismarck knew how to stop them. He decided to tell them Germany will give them land. France got nothing at the end, but Bismarck made France look very greedy. Now Bismarck had the chance to take Bulgaria, which the Reichstag (German parliament) wanted. By using ethics, he understood that that would not go well at all. He feared that Germany will face a two front war. Although he knew what was right and wrong in times of war, Bismarck also knew what was right and wrong with how to treat his people. He made changes to social legislation providing pension to anyone for reaching old age and people with disabilities. Otto Von Bismarck might not seem like an ethical man, but look deeply enough and you will find out that he truly is.
